Planning an Alaska cruise sounds simple until the follow-up questions pile up, like which sailings visit Glacier Bay National Park and which ones leave from Seattle. Then there’s the big one: how do two similar itineraries actually differ? Travelers can now ask Princess Cruises all of that in a single ChatGPT conversation.
Princess Cruises launched its native app inside ChatGPT on Sept. 28. Princess says that makes it the first global cruise line with a native app on the platform.
Neena Vicente, Princess’ vice president of digital commerce and experience, said more travelers now use AI to plan trips that keep getting more complex. They’re not just looking up facts, she said. They want help weighing their choices.
What the Princess App Can Do
Once you connect it, you can explore more than 330 destinations across 17 ships and check current pricing and availability. Everything happens in the same chat, so you can keep narrowing your options as you go.
Want to compare two ships or itineraries? Just ask. The app also covers ports, shore excursions, cruisetours, onboard experiences and packages.
Plain, everyday language works fine. Here’s Princess’ own example: “@princesscruises Show me seven-night cruises that visit Santorini in August 2027.”
How to Add It in ChatGPT
Setup takes a few steps:
- Log in to ChatGPT, or create a free account.
- Open Plugins. On desktop, you’ll find it in the left sidebar. On mobile, tap the menu icon at the top left, tap the settings gear at the bottom of the sidebar, then choose Browse Plugins.
- Search for Princess Cruises and click the + to add and connect it.
- Open a new chat, type your request with @princesscruises and press Enter.
It Only Works in ChatGPT for Now
The app runs only on ChatGPT at launch. Princess plans to add other AI platforms later, depending on each platform’s availability and technical requirements.
OpenAI’s Rosemary DeAragon, head of technology and consumer industries, said the company is building ChatGPT to help people “move from discovery to action.” Princess notes, though, that it has no affiliation with OpenAI.
