Looking to book a vacation at Puerto Rico all-inclusive resorts? Resorts here are not set up the same as they are in most other Caribbean destinations. If you’re looking for a traditional all-inclusive experience, pack light on the wristbands.

Benefits of traveling to Puerto Rico

Puerto Rico offers a unique blend of American ease and Caribbean charm. It’s a popular destination with American tourists because you do not need a passport to travel to this U.S. territory.

Many major airlines have direct flights from a number of U.S. cities, and English is spoken everywhere, though you will also find a number of Spanish speakers. Puerto Rico also uses the U.S. dollar, and cell phones do not require an international plan. This makes it a simple destination for Americans to visit.

Beyond that, you have a wide variety of activities within Puerto Rico that everyone in your family will enjoy. There are gorgeous beaches, and the historic sites of old San Juan, with its charming cobblestone streets, offer plenty for the history buff. Head beyond San Juan to see the natural beauty, from the bioluminescent bays at night to the El Junque rainforest.

What are the best Puerto Rico all-inclusive resorts?

Traveling to an all-inclusive resort makes your vacation easy, but you will not find any all-inclusive resorts in Puerto Rico. This is unusual for a Caribbean destination and is more similar to Florida, which has only a few all-inclusive options. There is not one specific reason why this is the case. However, don’t let that cross this fantastic vacation destination from your list.

The lack of Puerto Rico all-inclusive resort options offers the chance to explore the island’s diverse personality. As a U.S. territory, you can easily rent a car with your standard driver’s license to explore the island rather than staying onsite at a resort and missing all this island has to offer.

Many hotels feature on-site restaurants and bars, so relaxation is still on the menu. Feel free to explore local restaurants, as well. The island is generally safe, and there are many hole-in-the-wall restaurants that offer amazing food.

Make it your mission to try mofungo and churrasco with chimichurri from as many places as possible. Be sure to visit Barrachino, the restaurant that invented the pina colada. Expect a long wait, but know that you can wait in the line to the left to order a drink at the bar rather than staying for a meal. And yes, you are allowed to take your drink to go as you explore Old San Juan.

What are the main hotel zones in Puerto Rico?

Puerto Rico offers four main hotel zones. Depending on what you plan to do during your vacation, you can find a hotel that fits your personal preferences.

Condado offers a vibrant atmosphere with all the trimmings. San Juan’s glittering beachfront boasts a lineup of high-rise hotels, upscale restaurants and casinos. Step out your door and find yourself immersed in the energy, with nightlife just a walk away.

Isla Verde beckons for families seeking a relaxed beachfront haven. Carolina’s calm waters are perfect for splashing and swimming, while family-friendly resorts cater to every need. Water sports enthusiasts will also find plenty to enjoy here.

Luxury seekers and seclusion enthusiasts will find their paradise in Fajardo. The crown jewel is the sprawling El Conquistador Resort, offering unparalleled luxury. For those craving complete tranquility, Seven Seas Beach delivers with its secluded beauty.  Golfers will find world-class courses here as well.

Surfers and nature lovers generally prefer Rincon, Puerto Rico’s west coast gem. Trade the crowds for a laid-back vibe amidst stunning scenery. Boutique hotels and beachfront rentals offer a personalized touch, while the untamed beauty is right there to easily explore.
