The pool used to be the whole point: order a drink, find a lounge chair, watch the day disappear. Marriott’s newest push across the Caribbean and Latin America says otherwise. Guests want stories to tell when they get home, not just a tan.

Marriott’s portfolio across Mexico and the Caribbean is embracing a new set of travel priorities this season. New openings, returning programs and a rate deal all point the same direction: get guests out of the room and into the destination. Here’s where that’s happening.
Stacking 2 destinations into 1 trip
Splitting a vacation between a city and a coastline used to mean two separate bookings. Marriott’s Mexico properties make it one seamless trip instead.
- The Ritz-Carlton, Mexico City sits above Chapultepec Park, with skyline views, a Cacao Ceremony based on Mesoamerican tradition and quick access to Chapultepec Castle.
- Siari Riviera Nayarit, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve, picks up where the city stay ends. The resort opened in November 2025 between the Sierra Madre and the Pacific, with wellness experiences drawn from the Huichol community’s ties to the sea.

Learning something new on vacation
Some Marriott resorts are turning guests into temporary students, and kids are getting the best of it.
- Salterra, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa, South Caicos runs Ocean Explorers Week this July and August, where young travelers become junior marine biologists through the resort’s Coral Reef Consortium. Teens can add a PADI Discover Scuba experience, and a Chef Adrian Forte food-and-wine weekend lands in November.
- The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman partners with Jean-Michel Cousteau’s Ambassadors of the Environment for family mangrove and reef excursions, plus a private culinary session with the team behind Blue by Eric Ripert.

Making sunset the main event
Marriott calls it “dusking,” its term for treating the end of the day as an experience worth planning around, not just a backdrop.
- The St. Regis Costa Mujeres Resort, Cancún, built its evening around a Champagne Sabrage Ritual, where guests gather nightly to toast before dinner.
- W Punta de Mita hosts a weekly Golden Hour every Friday at the Living Room Bar, followed by sound healing and cacao ceremonies at AWAY Spa.
- Solaz, a Luxury Collection Resort, Los Cabos offers an Art Walking Tour and monthly Jazz & Wine nights on Baja Beach, plus tortilla lessons and cocktail classes tied to the region’s flavors.

Booking more than one of these stops isn’t a bad idea, either. Marriott’s Grand Getaways promotion knocks up to 10% off premium rooms for stays of two nights or more at participating hotels. However you spend the day, it looks like Marriott wants you spending less of it by the pool.
