This season, there’s something for everyone. From classic crowd-pleasers to exciting new flavors, each bite supports the magic of the Girl Scouts. Read on to find your favorites for 2025, including two flavors making their final appearance, and learn more about this impact-driven cookie.

The sweet history of Girl Scout cookies

Girl Scout cookies represent over a century of tradition, growth and community culture. According to their website, the journey of the Girl Scouts began in 1917 when the Mistletoe Troop in Muskogee, Oklahoma, sold homemade cookies to raise funds for local projects. This grassroots effort garnered national attention, and by 1936, the Girl Scouts had partnered with commercial bakers to expand their reach, marking the beginning of the cookie program as it’s known today.

In 2014, the Girl Scouts launched the Digital Cookie platform, empowering young girls to expand their entrepreneurial skills online. More importantly, this allowed the Girl Scouts to reach a wider audience, meeting their fans where they were. This platform has become the cornerstone of the cookie-selling experience and is the place for you to find your cookies this year. If you prefer buying cookies in person, you can use the Cookie Finder tool to locate local troops near you.

Leah Ingram, a blogger in Kennebunk, Maine, uses the cookie tracker on the Girl Scouts of America website to find cookie sales near their area. “Each area of the country sells cookies at different times of the year so it’s key to know when your local troop will have the goods before they sell out,” she said.

Some cookies are also named differently in other regions. Caramel deLites might be called Samoas, and Peanut Butter Patties are Tagalongs in another part of the country. “But Thin Mints are always Thin Mints wherever you go,” Ingram added.

Cookies of the past

Today’s lineup of cookies offers plenty of beloved options, but did you know that several flavors have come and gone? The Kookaburra, often compared to a KitKat and Twix hybrid, was among the first cookie flavors to have been discontinued in the early 1980s, explains the Food Network. Since then several others have followed, including the Juliettes — named for the Girl Scout founder, the Cinna-Spins — a nod to the 100-calorie snack bag craze of the late 2000s, and the Dulce de Leches — inspired by the beloved Latin American dessert.

Most recently, in 2019, Savannah Smiles, a tangy lemon wedge-shaped cookie, was retired. While these delicious flavors may no longer be available, they serve as a reminder of the program’s creativity. If you’re hoping to relive the magic, fans have created dupe recipes online, so get cooking with your kids and these nostalgic treats at home.

This year’s sweet lineup

The highly anticipated Girl Scout Cookie season is here, offering a diverse array of flavors crafted by two official bakers: ABC Bakers and Little Brownie Bakers. Depending on your region, you may notice slight differences in the names and nutritional compositions, but each cookie still embodies the irresistible taste you know and love. As in previous years, all cookies are certified kosher and halal, with vegan and gluten-free options, making them accessible to a wide range of dietary needs.

Classic comforts

Some cookies stand the test of time, offering familiar favorites like chocolate caramel cookies that deliver the delicious comfort you’ve come to expect from the Girl Scouts. Thin Mints, which are vegan, continue to reign supreme, with a crisp chocolate base coated in fresh mint-flavored chocolate. Trefoils are also available, inspired by the original Girl Scout Cookie recipe, bringing a buttery simplicity to the lineup. Peanut Butter Sandwich, also known as Do-si-dos, pairs crunchy oatmeal with a creamy peanut butter filling — the combination of texture and taste that never gets old.

Chocolate lovers’ picks

If you crave rich and indulgent flavors, these cookies will satisfy your sweet tooth. Adventurefuls features a brownie base topped with a smooth caramel creme and a sprinkle of sea salt with a luxurious bite. Caramel deLites, or Samoas, depending on the region, combines crisp cookie layers with delectable caramel, toasted coconut and chocolate strips for a tropical taste. Peanut Butter Patties, also called Tagalongs, coat layers of cookie crisps and peanut butter in a chocolate shell, all while being vegan friendly.

Delicious citrus

For a bright, zesty and fresh option, these citrusy cookies pack a refreshing punch. Lemonades take classic shortbread cookies and coat them in lemon-flavored icing for a tangy twist that tastes like sunshine in dessert form. Lemon-Ups are crispy lemon cookies baked with inspirational messages, spreading positivity with every bite.

Last chance cookies

After 2025, these two beloved flavors are being retired, making it your last chance to get a taste of these familiar favorites. Girl Scout S’mores bring the bonfire to your home without the hassle of camping, delivering the classic graham cracker sandwich filled with chocolate and marshmallow creme. Toast-Yays, a vegan option, captures the essence of breakfast in a box with their French toast flavor topped with light icing.

“This year is your last chance to enjoy Girl Scout S’mores and Toast-Yays, and cookie selections may vary by council,” said Heidi Bruaw, Girl Scout leader, GSEWNI Council, and blogger at Real Life of Lulu. “Don’t wait — stock up on your favorites before they’re gone.”

Gluten-free favorites

Crafted for those with gluten sensitivities, these cookies promise undeniable flavor while ensuring everyone can indulge without compromise. Toffee-tastic offers a buttery cookie packed with crunchy bits of toffee, balancing sweetness and texture. Caramel Chocolate Chip delivers a classic, chewy and caramel-forward cookie with semisweet chocolate chips and a decadent touch of sea salt.

Prepare for your next cookie craving

Now is the time to stock up on your favorites, try something new or take advantage to savor retiring flavors for the last time. Support your local troop and get your hands on this year’s flavors and make a difference with each bite. So, which cookie will you grab first?
