Grenada is about to look different. Resorts guests already love are adding new rooms, brand-new hotels are breaking ground, and one longtime family favorite is even opening on a second island. The quiet, spice-scented getaway many travelers know is turning into something much bigger.
A major international hotel brand is arriving in Grenada for the first time. Boutique hotels are expanding, too. And one of the island’s best-loved family resorts is bringing that same warm, laid-back feel to a nearby island.
Grenada Is Adding Hundreds of New Hotel Rooms
Grenada plans to add more than 670 hotel rooms and suites between 2026 and 2031. That’s a jump of more than 30% in the island’s total room count. The growth also includes new luxury residences and several smaller developments.
“For US travelers, this expansion will create even more ways to experience Grenada, from globally recognized luxury brands to the distinctive independent hotels for which the island is renowned,” said Emil Edwards, director of sales, USA at the Grenada Tourism Authority.
New Hotels Are Opening Across the Island
- InterContinental Grenada: Opens this fall on La Sagesse Bay. It’s the brand’s first hotel in Grenada, with 120 rooms and suites.
- Wyndham Levara: A 300-room hotel set to open in early 2028. It’ll be Wyndham’s first hotel in Grenada.
- Calabash Hotel: Grenada’s only Relais & Châteaux member and a two-Michelin-Key hotel. It’s already one of the island’s most awarded hotels, and it just finished its first expansion since the 1990s. Four Superior Deluxe Suites launched in April 2026, and two Hillside Penthouse Suites will open in October 2026.
- Silversands: Adding new guestrooms across three properties. Grand Anse is getting new rooms this fall and again in spring 2027, and Beach House will get new rooms in fall 2029. A separate project, Silversands Morne Rouge, will bring more than 100 rooms to the island’s south end.
A New Resort Is Coming to Grenada’s Sister Island
The expansion isn’t limited to Grenada’s main island.
- True Blue Bay Garden Resort: This family-run resort is known for its laid-back energy. Now it’s opening a new eco-conscious boutique resort on the sister island of Carriacou, set for early 2028.
- Smaller projects underway: Between 2026 and 2027, additional expansions are planned at The Point at Petite Calivigny, Bartholomew Villas and the Cabier Hotel & Marina.
“We are thrilled about this significant development for our tri-island,” said Tornia Charles, chief marketing officer of the Grenada Tourism Authority. “These new hotel properties and guest rooms represent an important milestone in welcoming visitors to Grenada.”
Grenada has spent years building a reputation as a quiet Caribbean escape. Rainforest trails, chocolate farms and an underwater sculpture park just offshore all add to that appeal. With this many new rooms on the way, now might be the moment to book before everyone else catches on.
