At Arcora Boutique Hotel & Villas, four signature adventures, snowmobiling, husky safaris, reindeer safaris and snowshoeing, are each led by one of the four Pietikäinen brothers. Their family has lived and worked north of the Arctic Circle for more than 50 years.
The hotel sits in Torassieppi, a small village in Muonio, right on the edge of Pallas-Yllästunturi National Park. It’s part of Harriniva Hotels & Safaris, the family business that started in 1973, when Hannes and Eine Pietikäinen sold their home and leased land along the Tornio-Muonio River. What began as one cabin and a campsite grew into a multi-generation adventure company now run by their sons, Jouni, Kalle, Jussi and Antti.
A Hotel Built Around One Family’s History
Arcora officially opens in January 2027, but its pre-opening winter season starts Dec. 14, 2026, giving early guests a shot at staying before the doors are technically open. The 59-suite-and-villa property sits in Muonio, a smaller, quieter base than Lapland resort towns like Levi, and its suites and villas are named after the four brothers themselves.

What the 4 ‘By Owner’ Experiences Include
Each brother brings a different focus to Arcora, and that shows up in the four experiences guests can book with them personally:
- Snowmobiling: You’ll ride out from the hotel across frozen lakes and through Arctic forest, stopping along the way for views and stories, then head back for lunch and a slower afternoon.
- Husky safari: A short snowmobile ride takes you to a nearby husky farm, where you can meet the dogs and spend time at your own pace. Depending on the season, you might even meet a new litter of puppies.
- Reindeer safari: You’ll visit a private, family-owned reindeer estate tied to Arcora’s founders, feed the reindeer, then travel by sled while hearing stories about the animals and the land.
- Snowshoeing: For a quieter pace, you’ll snowshoe through Pallas-Yllästunturi National Park, moving through snow-covered forest and open fell terrain.
What It Costs
The Arcora experiences start at $2,881 for one to four people, with extra guests at $576 each. Rooms start at $1,021 a night for two people, including breakfast and spa access. A three-night stay that bundles in one of the experiences starts at $3,671 per person.
If you’ve ever wanted a guide who actually grew up on the land you’re exploring, this is about as close as it gets. Just don’t expect to keep up with them on the snowmobile.
