Thousands of visitors are expected to make their way to Tulsa for this major summer event, which promises to capture the spirit of America’s legendary highway like never before. With expanded activities, new live performances and even more family-friendly fun, the 2025 AAA Route 66 Road Fest is shaping up to be one of the biggest and most vibrant celebrations yet.
Celebrating a century of Route 66 memories
The Mother of All Road Fests is rolling back into Tulsa. In 2026, Route 66 turns 100 years old, and the American Automobile Association, or AAA created the Route 66 Road Fest to kick off the celebrations early. Visitors are invited to join the fun and take an immersive trip to celebrate The Mother Road’s vibrant history and culture.
Tulsa proudly wears its Route 66 crown and sets the perfect stage for this year’s celebration. Route 66 stands as a true symbol of freedom, exploration and the endless possibilities that come with hitting the open road. With the 100th anniversary just around the corner, this year’s AAA Route 66 Road Fest feels even more meaningful.
“Route 66 holds a special place in the hearts of travelers,” says Ben Young, director of content and brand at AAA Oklahoma, in a TravelPulse article. He added, “Buckle up and get ready to immerse yourself in the nostalgia and rich heritage of Route 66.” It’s a chance for longtime enthusiasts and new explorers alike to walk through a century of stories, culture and the enduring spirit that still defines Route 66 today.
What to expect at the AAA Route 66 Road Fest
This year, the Presentation Stage is bigger, better and packed with more speakers than ever. Visitors can catch legends like Michael Wallis, Jim Hinckley and Joe Sonderman sharing stories that bring the Mother Road to life. Joey Madia will even step into the shoes of Cyrus Avery, the “Father of The Mother Road,” in a live performance.
Families will love the expanded kids’ area. There’s everything from art stations to Pinewood Derby races, mini golf, Hot Wheels races, interactive art, virtual reality arena and a dinosaur-themed area. It’s the kind of place where both kids and grown-ups can jump right into the fun and create new memories without missing a beat.
Live music and entertainment
Get ready for the soundtrack of summer because live music is making a comeback at the Road Fest’s Presentation Stage. Throughout the weekend, visitors can catch live performances by some of Oklahoma’s most talented acts, adding even more energy to the celebration.
On Saturday, June 21, Red Dirt Rangers will take the stage at noon, followed by Weston Horn & Daniel Jordan at 5 p.m. and the Annie Ellicott Duo at 6 p.m. Sunday’s lineup includes Ayngel & Dustin Pittsley performing at 2 p.m. and Bria & Joey wrapping things up at 4 p.m. It’s a great mix of history and good vibes, and there’s no better backdrop for a celebration like this.
A paradise for car lovers
For car lovers, the AAA Route 66 Road Fest is about as good as it gets. The Car Show rolls out a dazzling collection of vehicles, from the earliest Model-Ts to futuristic autonomous rides. Each car tells a story, showing how road travel has evolved right alongside American culture.
Plus, visitors can stroll through the RV Park Experience, where beautifully restored vintage trailers sit alongside sleek, high-end motorhomes. It’s like stepping into a moving museum of adventure, where every camper and coach reveals a new chapter in the great American road trip. From retro charm to the latest luxuries, there’s something here that’ll spark anyone’s sense of wanderlust.
